It’s not difficult to create a fabulous looking home on a huge budget, but for most of us our resources are limited, and as such it can be harder to achieve the look we desire.

However, there are a few sneaky tricks we can use to make our homes look great without great expense.

Today we’ll be running through a few brilliant low-budget ideas to make your home look beautiful. These decoration ideas cost less but look just as good as more expensive concepts; helping you to create the perfect home without burning through all your money! Let's get started…

1. Pastel perfection

Sometimes, you have to work hard to find furniture pieces that work well together. But add some pastel shades and you have a masterpiece on your hands! Wicker furniture and a mix of throw cushions will turn a room into your cosy space. Make sure to let the natural light in so you can spend Sunday mornings lazing around with a book…

2. Let the walls do the work

You don’t always need fancy furniture to create a relaxing atmosphere. Picking the right colours for your walls is all that's required. Choose the right colour scheme, and you can create an elegant, refined atmosphere without forking out huge amounts on the furniture.

3. Maybe buying new isn’t for you

Retro furniture pieces are pretty trendy – rather than buying new you can achieve a hipster, shabby-chic influenced look for you room with a few eclectic furniture pieces.

Alternatively, if the room in question already has elements that you can exploit to create a great look then use them!  In the example above the wooden flooring with herringbone pattern, and beautiful exposed wooded roof have been used to define the room’s look, with relatively inexpensive but chic furniture filling in the blanks.

4. Simplicity and flair

Taking a minimalist approach is a great way to decorate a room on a budget, but it does have the potential to be boring if not done well.

Resolve this problem by adding eye-catching eclectic wallpaper to one of the walls to create a focal point.

5. Indoor plants

The simple addition of a few well-placed plants around the room can completely change the atmosphere of the space. Indoor plants can add a touch of life and vivacity to any room! This is especially true if you pick tropical plants for decorating a home.

6. Be industrious and creative

If you want something done right – or in this case, cheaply – then do it yourself!

An exposed brick wall is the hallmark of industrial-style décor - combine this with a few hanging lamps and a wall with a bit of creativity and voila! You have an amazing interior. The designer here chose to go with intricate owl-themed artwork, but you can pick something simpler and it will still have a big impact.

7. Paint a mural

Make the room memorable with an ever-impressive mural! Admittedly it takes a bit of artistic talent, but it’s a low-cost option.

If you use the same colour scheme as the mural to decorate your room, it’ll maintain continuity and look sensational.
