Surely you have in mind, the classic tiling, which hardly ever surprise us, since tiles take first place among the most popular bathroom covering/wall surface. However, they are not the only option. If you are looking for something original for your bathroom, then have a look at these wonderful ideas that will help you to see things more clearly.

Wall # 1: Tiling

We said it before: the tiling never goes out of style. This is one of the best options to coat the bathroom with, since the ceramic is a perfect material that meets the requirements for the special conditions of this room: it is resistant to changes in temperature, it withstand humidity and steam without problems. Tiles are also easy to maintain, it offers us a thousand and one combinations that range from the more classic options to a much more agressive and modern combinations.

This bathroom belongs to a modern industrial-style loft in the city of Milan. It is a bathroom without windows, but it is very cheerful and bright thanks to the colorful combination of the tiles. A fun and nice touch for an unconventional bathroom.

Wall # 2: Wallpaper

Many are still reluctant to use wall paper in bathrooms, as they consider that moisture does not fare well with this type of coating. However, the vinyl wallpaper that is produced today is resistant to humidity and are now widely used in recent by interior architects. Its installation is very simple and even if we have the old tiles on the wall and we do not want to do work to remove them, just cover the joints so that the wallpaper can be installed without noticing what is beneath it.

The wallpaper gives us many options and is perfect for all styles. In this example, a flowered wall paper gives a country-like and cheerful touch to this small bathroom.

Wall # 3: Wood

Having wooden walls in the bathroom are surprising and even a bit shocking. But the idea is not so rare if we think about it, they are the classic covering of saunas and spas. A wooden wall in our bathroom will give a warm touch, which is an important aspect for this room. Of course, it would be better if we choose tropical woods, such as teak that can better withstand steam and moisture. In addition we should not forget that the wood requires continuous maintenance: a good idea can be to apply a polyurethane protection.

Wall # 4: Polished cement

One of the fashionable coatings for bathrooms is polished cement. It is a perfect material for these types of rooms, thanks to its waterproof surface and its great adhesion. In addition, having no joints prevent dirt from  accumulating between them and their maintenance is a lot simpler. Although we associate polished cement with an industrial and modern aesthetic, the truth is that it is a very versatile material that we can find in different finishes and colors.

The bathroom walls we see in this example are lined with polished cement which does not break with the classic line of the room that we see in some of its elements: the lamp that is reflected in the mirror and the entrance door. A mixture of new and old can be very attractive.

Wall # 5: Painting

Painting the bathroom walls can be a simple option to coat the walls of the room. Currently there are many types of paint that are suitable for the bathroom, those with waterproof finish and are fast drying. These types fo specialized paint are more resistant to moisture than traditional ones, since they create a barrier against water and prevent it from penetrating in it, like a sealant that also helps prevent mold.

Wall # 6: Stone

How about we start talking about the budget? If you really want a stone lining in your bathroom you have to be aware that in order to do so, then you will have to dig in deeper into your pocket. Once you are clear about your budget, then you can do a bit of canvassing. Stone cladding is a very interesting option which provides a very elegant finish – if for example we use marble, or the more rustic style: stones such as slate or limestone.

However, if you love the effect of the stone, but you do not want to spend so much money, then you can always look for alternatives, such as stone panels which are cheaper and carries a very natural finish. These are great alternatives for those who are on a tight budget.

However, the brick-faced interiors are very trendy, so we have not been able to resist showing this example. Perhaps it can be a very attractive option for toilets or guest bathrooms.
