The appeal of a kitchen is widely attributed to the layout, style and hue of the cabinets. For creating a new look in the kitchen from time to time, refacing of the existing cabinets or a simple switch up of the cabinet doors is the most straightforward strategy. There is a multitude of materials and designs that you can choose which might leave you spoiled for choice. Before narrowing it down to the right option, you need to consider the durability, material and the aesthetic appeal that the cabinets can bring to your kitchen. You might want to consult with an interior designer or decorator to bring out the best in your kitchen.

1. Solid wood cabinet doors

Wood cabinet doors come with charm because they bring a natural element to the kitchen. The best part is that you can meticulously pick out the colour and type of wood as per your liking. For modern homes, dark wood kitchen cabinets are perfect.

2. Slab-style kitchen cabinet doors

Slab style cabinet doors are popular as they give the kitchen a smooth, contemporary flair. However, you should bear in mind that frameless cabinets are generally more expensive than ones that have a frame.

3. Framed beadboard kitchen cabinet doors

Beadboard style wood inserts that are a part of framed shaker-style cabinet doors come with the advantage of being durable. They bring a rustic feel to the room and work exceptionally well with most kitchen designs, especially the traditional style.

4. Classic shaker style kitchen cabinet door

Shaker style kitchen cabinet doors are based on the ever-promising Shaker furniture that never goes out of style. Typically available in natural wood finishes such as oak, maple or cherry, they also come in painted variants, which are less popular. This clean and elegant style is a must-have.

5. Thermofoil kitchen cabinet door

The general notion that thermofoil has to be white should be eliminated from our minds, as they can come in almost any shade, including wood. Dark, rich, wood is not only easy to maintain but adds a fascinating appeal to the aesthetics of the kitchen. It mimics a wood-grain and is quite a rare find.

6. Cathedral style kitchen cabinet door

Cathedral styled kitchen cabinet doors can be made either from solid wood or layered materials. The advantage of using the latter is that the surface never needs repainting. Natural wood, however, comes with a charm of its own leaving the onus of deciding between the two entirely up to you!

7. Mullion style kitchen cabinet doors

The design of mullion-style kitchen cabinet doors allows for the placement of glass on the back of the door. For traditional kitchens, this seems like the best bet as the stiles added provide additional support for the door, besides protecting the glass against breakage.

8. Double arch kitchen cabinet doors

Solid wood cabinet doors with two arches, one at the top and one below, are perfect for the quintessential classic kitchen. The grooves create an attractive profile giving the doors a beautiful look. Metallic handles complete the style.
